Terms and Conditions for md2kdp

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of the md2kdp mobile application (“the App”), developed by Hovrak (“we”, “us”, or “our”). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

1. The Service

md2kdp is an offline document conversion and formatting tool. It lets you import documents (DOCX, TXT, Markdown, and Google Docs), edit and format them, generate a table of contents, and export them as Markdown, print-ready KDP PDF, or EPUB files. All conversion is performed locally on your device.

2. License

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for your personal or commercial document-preparation purposes, subject to these Terms and the policies of the app store from which you obtained the App.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or to process content you do not have the right to use;
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the App, except to the extent permitted by law;
  • Distribute, sell, sublicense, or otherwise commercialize the App itself;
  • Use the App to infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party.

4. Your Content

You retain all rights to the documents and content you import into, create with, or export from the App (“Your Content”). Because the App processes everything locally on your device and has no backend server, we do not access, store, or claim any ownership over Your Content. You are solely responsible for Your Content and for keeping your own backups.

5. Google Drive Integration

If you connect your Google account, the App requests read-only access to your Google Drive solely to let you import your own documents. Your use of Google services is also subject to Google’s own terms. The access token is stored only on your device and can be revoked at any time. See our Privacy Policy for details.

6. Third-Party Platforms and KDP

The App helps you prepare files intended for Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) and other platforms. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Amazon, Google, or any book-publishing platform. We do not guarantee that exported files will be accepted by, or comply with the current requirements of, any third-party platform. You are responsible for verifying that your files meet the requirements of the platform you upload to.

7. Intellectual Property

The App, including its design, code, logos, and branding (excluding Your Content), is owned by us and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. These Terms do not transfer any ownership of the App to you.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy of conversion output, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that conversion results will be perfect or suitable for any specific use.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, profits, or content, arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use the App. Because the App does not store Your Content, you are responsible for maintaining your own copies and backups.

10. Changes to the App and Terms

We may update, modify, or discontinue the App or any of its features at any time. We may also revise these Terms from time to time; the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Termination

These Terms remain in effect while you use the App. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it. We may suspend or terminate your license if you breach these Terms.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the jurisdiction in which the developer operates, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Nothing in these Terms limits any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have under your local law.
